DAY 1: It’s More Fun in Surigao del Sur

Hey blog! It’s been a while. I was just lazy these past few weeks. You know that I am just trying to be a writer slash blogger but still the lazy me I mean the real me is still adjusting when it comes to updating this blog. Anyway, here’s what I’ve promised in my previous post entitled Tanned.

For the third time, I went again to the famous tourist spots in our province Surigao del Sur but this time, I revisited the spots together with my workmates. To be honest, even if I’ve already seen these places many times still I can’t find the perfect adjective for it.  You know why? Here’s the answer:

DAY 1  (AUGUST 17, 2012):

1st STOP- THE TINUY-AN FALLS OF BISLIG CITY SURIGAO DEL SUR:

It was just a great Friday for me. I was with my new family, we’ve got very nice pictures, we had funny conversations, we arrived safely, but the outing was spoiled during the moment before this solo photo was taken. As you can see in that photo, I’ve got wet shorts. Unfortunately, I slide on the slippery stones of the water. But it was not the sad part, because when that happened I was holding a digital camera that I just borrowed from my auntie, so I don’t wanna dig on this part. But I know you already get what happened to the camera ; (

Photo aboved, was taken at the upper part of the falls. The group we’re all happy and I feel the same way too because it has always been a pleasure for me to tour people who are close to my heart in our province. After Tinuy-an falls we then visit the enchanted enchanted river of Hinatuan.

2nd STOP- THE ENCHANTED RIVER OF HINATUAN, SURIGAO DEL SUR:

 Hello Creatures in Enchanted River…haha

Group Picture with the Team in the Pool I mean in the River:)

That blue color is exactly the same inthe actual view of this place. It was indeed enchanted. No one has reach yet the depth of the river because it has a cave like shape form and 2 tanks of oxygen is not enough for the divers who have tried to explore this river.

Another photo that I’ve captured during our trip was this actual scene during the fish feeding every 12noon to 1:00pm at the river. No one is allowed to swim in the river during feeding time. I would suggest that if you want to visit this place be sure to take your lunch here because  you will love to witness the fish feeding time. The fishes are big and I’d say they’re clever=). During feeding time a local music will be played and fishes are like performers in a stage. After the music, the fishes were like shy people already and they just hide. What’s even more amazing is that people from this  place said that no fish could ever be caught either through fish net or even dynamite fishing. Isn’t it enchanted? =)

And it’s swimming time!!! brought to you by Me, Ate Lyn, Ate Jikay, Ate Yessa, Ate Mel and Ate Cheerbie. We we’re just enjoying the water near the rocks because most of us were not born as swimmer. Yayy. But we still enjoyed a lot;)

Well what can I say. This picture is just so beautiful. What’s nice in this river ithat even if there are many people swimming, the clearness of the water will still remain because it’s like a water within a rock or cave but there are some parts where you can walk in sands and where I just stayed. Haha. I’d like to thank Ate Cheerbie for this great capture she got for me. It was my 2nd time here in Enchanted river but it was actually my first time to swim and experience how enchanted is enchanted river=)

3rd STOP- THE REST AREA @ SAN AGUSTIN SURIGAO DEL SUR

This area is just beside the highway along the Baranngay Gata but before Barangay Salvacion of San Agustin,  Surigao del Sur. It was built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in order that visitors could have a glance to the beauty of the Britania Islands. Before, this area was just hidden by trees. Their view deck is a must visit place because you will be even more excited and fascinated with the beauty of Britania Group of Islands.

You can buy some souveniers here becaus locals are selling products which they personally made. They have many products made of Magkuno wood. But I wasn’t able to took pictures with their products but I actually saw them and they’re well made.=)

4th STOP- @ MY GRAND FATHER’S PLACE IN BRGY. SALVACION SAN AGUSTIN, SURIGAO DEL SUR: (Father’s side)

A what I call ”Family Picture”

My mother and Auntie with my workmates @ our living room.

Photo above is one of my favorite photos during our trip. I so love seeing my family together with what I call my new family plus the area where we are exactly located brings back a lot of my  best memories and it adds more overwhelming and happy feeling in my heart. Thank you guyz!

I’d like to thank my Auntie’s and Uncle in my fathers side for the efforts of making delicious snacks for my friends. I’ve always been impressed with how they accommodate and treat my friends. I call them my Amazing Single Auntie’s=).  After our snakcs we then go to our last stop. That’s in….

5th & LAST STOP OF THE DAY- @ GRANDMOTHER’S HOME IN KAUSWAGAN SAN AGUSTIN, SURIGAO DEL SUR: (Mother’s side)

Its Home Sweet Home. This place is where I took my elementary and high school education so I grow up here with my Mother my Grand mother and some of my Uncles and Auntie’s. So for Day 1 this will be our last stop and this is where we stayed. I’d also like to thank my family in my Mother’s side for everything they’ve helped to ensure that our stay would be enjoyable. Thank you so much for the delicious food we had, and also for the warm welcome to my friends. Thanks Nanay, Lola, Auntie’s and Uncles.

FUN summer 2012

Summer here in Philippines is almost over and so before this hot season ends let me share to you my summer escapade for this year of 2012.

Last April 2012 me and my college friends went to my province in Surigao del Sur. It was our first ever time to travel that far from Davao City and to spend that budget for an outing. Well I guess, we just wanna really treat ourselves after the busy schedules from work and aside from that we didn’t have any after party when we graduated in college that’s why the team agreed to this plan. So since April 5-9 was the Holy week for the year of 2012 and exactly April 8 is our 1st anniversary as professionals we then grab the chance to not just reflect and pray for the Holy week but to also enjoy nature.

April 5, 2012, we went to TINUY-AN FALLS

Tinuy-an Falls is located in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur. From Davao City we departed at exactly 1:30am and reach this falls at exactly 7:00am (via private van). Entrance fee is only 50pesos. This falls is known to be as the Niagara Falls of the Philippines. I think this is one of the widest waterfalls in the Phillipines. It was actually my second time here and I’m still amaze with its beauty. It was even more beautiful because of the rainbow across the falls (not that obvuse in the picture) and aside from that the place this time was not that crowded yet. So I suggest that you should be early if you’re planning to visit this place. I think they are already open at 6:00am. The last time I was here, I did swimming with my family but this time we were not able to maximize our stay and so we did not attempt to swim due to time consciousness.

At around 8:00am we departed from Tinuy-an falls and took our breakfast in the car while riding going to Enchanted River.

At exactly 10:00am we reach ENCHANTED RIVER

Enchanted River is located in Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. From Tinuy-an Falls we travel for almost 2 hours to reach this place. Entrance fee is only 30 pesos but you need to pay for the 2 toll fees going to this place which cost 10 pesos each. It was actually my first time here even if I am living in the province of Surigao del Sur. From the name itself, the place was really enchanting. It’s a deep blue river with crsytal clear water. According to some natives there, no one has ever reach the the depth of the river. Base on my research also, some divers cannot reach the depth because aside from the reason that the river is flowing deep in a cave like form, two tanks of oxygen for each diver is not enough. For me the place is really fascinating but during this time, it was very crowded (super). As soon as you reach the place you immeadiately order your food. So you can just wait for it while enjoying the view. Lots of fresh sea foods are available around the place and it’s all up to you how do you want it to be cooked. At around 11:30am we eat our lunch and some of my friends as well as my relatives who were also with us had enjoy much swimming. At exactly 12noon everyone swimming were asked to vacate frist the river because the’ll gonna have their Fish Feeding. Its always scheduled every 12noon to 1:00pm so be sure that you if you want to visit this place, you should have witness this part. A music was played it was like a magic that the big fishes came out from the river and seem s like they are performers in a theater while people are watching them eating those foods. And we departed from the place at around 12:30pm and reach home in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur at exactly 2:30pm.=)

April 6, 2012

After the traditional Station of the Cross every Holy week we just stayed at home and my college friends we’re able to meet my high school friends and had our lunch together.

After our lunch I’ve decided that we go to my grandfather’s place. It’s just 10minutes away from  our town  via tricycle. But before reaching my grandpas house we had our stop over in a known bridge in our place. It’s called Hubo River Bridge located in Buhisan, San Agustin Surigao del Sur.

At around 3:00pm we reach the place of my Lolo and enjoyed so much by relaxing plus unlimited chatting and most especially eating those delicious food. What a life!

April 7, 2012 SALVACION BEACH

And we woke up early to enjoy the relaxing beach of  Salvacion. We were already in the beach at exactly 6:00am. This is what I miss with my team, laughing all together, took pictures with each moment, and to just laugh until it hurts our stomachs. Some did swimming, some just enjoyed the nature. After an hour we went back in our home and had our breakfast. After that I invited my friends to visit my Grandfather and Father in the cemetery. There I had a chance to introduce my friends to two of the most significant people in  my life. After our visit, the weather turned out bad and we got home wet because of the heavy rain. But we still do enjoy and we immediately ride a tricycle to continue swimming in the popular summer destination of our place    which is (mother’s side)

BRITANIA GROUP OF ISLANDS

These group of islands is located in Brngy Bretania, San Agustin Surigao del Sur. I’ve been here in this place for quite long since my childhood days until my high school years. But it was just recently popular a year ago. A lot of people visit this place everyday and it’s just so new for us natives here, because last few years, this place was just so private and silent. Glad it was already discovered but hopefully it would be maintained naturally.

My friends were fascinated and amaze withe white sands, crystal clear water, the anture, the place it self. As usual we had a lot of pictures with the nature. We were also given the chance to have our island hopping. The weather was great, the people I was with this time were all so special and dear to me.  I really did had so much fun.

APRIL 8, 2012 SAN AGUSTIN, SURIGAO DEL SUR

This time, it’s a closer bonding with my high school friends. We had our late lunch in the beach of  our town.  My college friends really did enjoy swimming in the sea and in the shore?hahahaha I mean in the sand.lol. We also had our gift giving so that my high school friends would also remember this short time but nice time they had with my friends in college.

During the night, we had our get together in our living room. With my Uncles, Aunties, most of my family members. We had our KTV, drink a little, laugh a lot. After a few minutes, my high school friends came, and our get together continued in our terrace until 3:00am.

APRIL 9, 2012 GOING BACK TO THE CITY

Lazy morning, lousy moves, weak voice, sad thoughts, teary eyes – these has always been me everytime I leave home. . . So sad. but before we leave we had our group picture or should I say family picture:

I’d like to thank God for this very special occassion, my sincerest thank also to my college friends that they we’re able to make it, even if our place was quite far from Davao City as well as to my high school friends for the warm welcome and for the support, and lastly to my family both mother and father side for the accommodation and everything.

It has been my dream since then to bring people at home. Those people I knew outside our town because for me this is one way for them to understand where I came from and to know me better. Not just to enjoy nature but to actually see where I grew up.

3rd of November 2011

In my previous post I mentioned that I will make another post for my trip last November 3, 2011. Before that, let me share to you how important this post will be. That is why I wanted to make a special post because what happened that day has so much meaning for me. I honestly do not know how to make a title for this post because I have so much to say and sadly I can’t organized my thoughts well. Oh I hope to make a clear and hopefully short post.=)

Before I went home in our province, I already planned to just stay there for only 5 nights and be back in Davao on November 3, 2011. However, the night before that day as I was lying in bed, I remember the place where we had our retreat during our 4th year high school. I was thinking it would be nice if me and my friends would be able to visit there again as our way of looking back from our past experiences and to take a lot of pictures because we didn’t have any picture from the place during our retreat. So I was thinking it could be a perfect chance to visit the place cause I brought with me the camera of my Auntie.

We went to Poor Clare Monastery located in Palasao, Cantilan, Surigao del Sur.

She , Me, and My

Medyo malayo layo din from our town San Agustin, Surigao del Sur. I was with my two high school friends namely Shiela Ann and Myssa. We ride a van at 6:30am and we reach the terminal of Tandag City, Surigao del Sur at around 8:30am each of us paid 70php for the fare. From there we met Myssa’s boyfriend who will also be with us and we ride another van going to Cantilan but we just drop at Madrid, Surigao del Sur because although the monastery is located in Cantilan it would be more convinient to drop by in Madrid and ride a motorcycle going to Barangay Palasao Cantilan Surigao del Sur. The trip from Tandag City to Madrid lasted for almost 2 and half hours with a fare of 90php. The Monastery was I think 5 minutes away from the terminal of Madrid via motorcycle and we paid 20php each.

To be perfectly honest, I was very eager to visit the place just for the reason of sending my petitions. If you’d ask me about those petitions, I think you’ll know through my upcoming posts=).

I thought I would be very overwhelmed to see the place again but the feeling was different. I don’t mean negative feelings but I told Myssa and Shiela Ann “bakit parang feeling ko kakagaling ko lang dito recently?” Bakit parang feeling ko nandito ako last week or last month?” Weird! To think it was already 5 years ago since then. Ang pinakauna naming ginawa ay magdasal. Kinausap ko talaga ng masinsinan si

praying…

Lord. Grabeh!

Paglabas namin ng simbahan, I was continuing to capture more pictures until we meet an old man who was I think one of the care takers of the monastery. We told him if we are allowed to meet and talk with the nuns. Eh akala nong care taker nagmamadali kami kaya ayon ginawa nya to:

I really thought we wouldn’t have a chance anymore kasi bawal pala silang makausap from Nov.2-Dec.15. But we we’re so lucky that one of the nuns named Sister Susanna has given us her time and chance to see and talk with her.

(dito lang pwedeng makaharap at makita ang mga mongha=) it’s like a store…bubuksan lang kurtina pero hindi sila mahahawakan..

According to her, they do consider seeing those people na hindi na makakabalik agad agad lalo na ‘yong mga taong galing abroad. Akalain niyo ba since 1998 pa siya don.

eating...

Pagkatapos, nag lunch na kami at nag-ikot-ikot sa lugar. Pinuntahan namin yong kung saan kami natutulog, kumakain at nag lelecture when we had our retreat.

Thank you Lord.

More pictures:

maraming puno sa loob ng monastery..=)

i so love the detailed of dos por dos woods..=) (pag nagdadasal ang mga uns hindi na sila lumalabas..diyan lang sila sa sheer part ng altar...behind Mama Mary..

St. Clare of Assisi...

relaxing view inside=)

The Church

Room where you can talk with the nuns and where you can buy souvenir items

where we stayed during our retreat...
